The Richard Goolsby Scholarship Committee recently awarded $14,000 to area students who have demonstrated career interests in plastics while meeting other criteria for financial need and academic merit. The 2016/2017 award recipients are enrolled in programs at NC State, Western Carolina, UNC Charlotte, Clemson, Pennsylvania State and the University of South Carolina,
Since 1989 the Goolsby Scholarship has awarded $332,300 to one hundred and fourteen students. Several have graduated with honors and joined our industry. Members of the Goolsby committee experience great pleasure in meeting and interviewing the recipients. We are impressed with the intelligence, creativity, talent and dedication of all the students.
The Richard Goolsby Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to students who express a career interest in plastics or have demonstrated practical experience in the industry. Preference is given to students living within geographic areas in close proximity to the Carolinas.
The next application period begins in early January 2017 with a March deadline to apply. Look for Richard Goolsby Scholarship Fund information on the Carolinas Section web site (http://specarolinas.org), Foundation For the Carolinas web site (www.fftc.org) and on bulletin boards at various colleges and universities.
